Premise[]

Evan makes his return, having turned into an angry vigilante who protects the Morlocks. He is unafraid to go in public with his disfiguring mutation, causing panic in his environment, especially since the extreme prejudice against mutants is on the rise. Anti-mutant racist Duncan Matthews and his friends go and hunt Evan down, and they even stumble upon a small boy named Dorian Leech. Also, in a foreshadow towards the eventual fight against Apocalypse, Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. releases Bolivar Trask and orders him to build new and improved Sentinels.

Summary[]

A young boy, Dorian Leech, watches a news repot on the news that mentions another dome has appeared in Shansi Province, China. Not wanting her son watching the news due to the talk of mutants, a mother walks into the room and switches the television off telling her son that it only upsets him. After his mother leaves, Doran switches the screen back on to continue watching the report.

Annoyed that mutants live among him, Duncan, who has since gained a job as a miner, talks to a news reporter and claims that mutants being in society only ruins everyone's lives and that they have to be stopped before they cause problems as he continues to bring up his anti-mutant opinions.

Down at a café, a young boy places his leftover food into a dumpster and walks away. Seeing the coast is clear, Lucid lifts the manhole cover up and leaves the sewers to grab the food so that he can help feed the other Morlocks. After acquiring the food, Lucid goes to return to the sewers but is thrown back as a car pulls into view and four teenagers step to threaten him, as they go to grab Lucid, Evan appears on a rooftop and fires down a few slightly burning spikes causing the four to slightly back away, Evan, unafraid of a one-to-four fight, takes them on and successfully causes them to leave. After doing so, Evan urges Lucid down below and back to safety.

In the sewers, the two hand the leftover food out to the other Morlocks as Callisto confronts Evan about his vigilante activities around Bayville. Still angered about how mutants are being treated above ground, Evan points out the Morlocks' current situation on how they are having to eat wasted food and hide out in the sewers and insists they should fight off the anti-mutants instead of hiding in the shadows.

Above, Hank works with Charles on the recent appearance of Apocalypse's dome in the province in China and discover that they are all currently enclosed in energy spheres that do not let any form of attack through making them indestructible. In China, the military continue in their efforts in attempting to destroy the domes by preparing another wave of attacks. Charles and Hank express their worry that the attacks on the domes will only lead to more backlash on the mutants.

After spending the day at the library, Sam and Amara walk back to the Institute though are confronted by Duncan and his gang after Sam accidentally cannonballed into a building causing a bit of rubble to come from it. After witnessing the incident, Duncan steps forward as he and his friends claim that the two would have to pay for the damage caused and go to harass Amara and Sam but are forced to stop as Evan appears. Not wanting the two hurt, Evan orders them to return to the Institute and goes to fend of the anti-mutants by himself with the fight causing damage to Duncan's car. Not wanting to confront Evan after seeing what he has done, Duncan orders his friends to retreat as the group leave as Evan yells at him that Bayville's mutants are not to be targeted, Evan then fires a few more flaming spikes that fully destroy Duncan's car as the former then returns to the sewer.

After learning of Evan's status as a vigilante and discovering what he has done, Xavier sends out Logan to go confront him much to Storm's dismay as she insists on going instead but is shut down as Xavier assures her that Logan would be a better choice. In China, the dome is once again fired at but remains unscathed though the area around is affected and destroyed. Seeing no other option, Fury sends out an order that Bolivar Trask is to be released so long as he builds improved Sentinels to deal with the incoming threat.

Down below, Logan goes to confront Evan but is almost surrounded by the Morlocks but gets them to back away as he talks to Evan though the latter expected his aunt, something that Logan mentions that he only came because Evan was no longer a child. Evan then explained that he only became the Morlocks' guardian because the group was defenceless and do not get comfort liberties like living in a mansion. Seeing why Evan was doing what he was doing, Logan then leaves the sewers

In an effort to get healthier foods rather than let the Morlocks live on leftovers, Evan goes to a local store but is refused service due to his mutation. As he leaves, Evan watches as a woman becomes agitated at Dorian and yells at Evan saying that the young boy should go with his kind though Dorian's mother remains adamant that her son is not a mutant but is just sick. The customers then become further furious and go to harass the two but Evan stops them, in good faith, Evan pays for his groceries and leaves

Hank and Xavier then watch on the news that the backlash on their kind has come just as they feared it would. On the news, Duncan continues supporting his anti-mutant ideology and talks about the situation with his car and mentions that the Morlocks live in the sewers. Wanting to keep the peace, the police attempt to get the mobs to evacuate the area after finding people crowding by the gates of the Institute and the Brotherhood's boarding house.

Now further enraged but mutant-kind, Duncan recruits his friends and grab some gear from their mining facility to go hunt down the Morlocks. At home, Dorian attempts to talk to his mother about him possibly having mutant heritage though she ignores the matter insisting she does not want to talk to her son about mutants due to the incident earlier that day at the store. Needing to defend the Morlocks, Evan fights off Duncan and his crew, Dorian, who had been watching the news, escapes from hope after seeing a news helicopter flying above his home.

As the fight ensues, The X-Men and Morlocks appear to aid Evan as Jean fights with Duncan, as he yells at her, Jean uses her telekinesis to throw him into a nearby car. Seeing the police helicopter above them, the group becomes distract as Duncan goes to use the opportunity to fire at Evan though briefly stops as Dorian walks into sight but goes to fire at him instead. Evan takes the hit instead as Dorian yells out, his mutant power activates as a wave of energy appears and nullifies everything in its range, including the mutants' powers. Now seeing they are weapon less and can no longer fight the equally defenceless mutants, Duncan and his friends go to leave but are arrested by the police before they can get far.

As Dorian's mother appears, Dorian himself claims that his headaches have gone though Mrs. Leech turns her attention to Evan and yells at him for exposing his son as a mutant as she questions what chance her son now as at living a normal life. Evan, knowing the truth, tells her that Dorian can no longer have a normal life and at that response, Dorian is taken home by his mother. Once Dorian is gone, everyone's powers re-activate.

Storm then later asks her nephew to return to the X-Men but he remains adamant that the Morlocks need a protector as he goes to return to the sewers but Storm says she is proud of Evan. Xavier manages to catch up to Mrs .Leech and says that Dorian is able to come to the Institute whenever he is ready.

Quote[]

"Yeah, but she'd just want to hug ya. Since you're a big boy now, you get me"- Logan to Evan after the latter questioned why Logan came to him and not his aunt.
